The Daily Constitution, Atlanta, GA, April 17, 1877
--The Americus Republican remarks: “Dr. Thomas P. Janes, commissioner of 
agriculture, advises young men to marry good, clever, Georgia girls, settle on 
a farm and try to raise sheep.  There is something humorous about this advice, 
and would suggest to the learned doctor that he be a little more explicit in 
future.”  Dr. Janes has good authority for his advice.  The most prominent 
poem in his scrap-book begins: “Mary had a little lamb.”
