Geer from: the Augusta Chronicle, Augusta, Georgia, Monday, October 17, 1955, p. 2: William Fred Geer, 69, died Sunday at his residence, 260 Reynolds St., after an extended illness. He was a retired safety officer for the Charleston and Western Carolina Railroad. Mr. Geer attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Phinizy Bible Class. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Fuller Geer; a daughter, Mrs. Rupert H. [sic H. Rupert] Sledge of Arcadia, La.; three sons, the Rev. Robert S. Geer of Alva, Tex., William D. Geer of Clinton, Miss., and H. Calvin Geer of Augusta, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday at the First Baptist Church by Dr. R. J. Robinson. Interment will be in the Penfield (Ga) Cemetery. Mr. Geer was a native of Penfield but had lived here 35 years. _____________ William F. Reve. Robert S. Geer, his son, and Rev. R. J. Robinson, his pastor, officiated at the noon services. Mr. Geer died at his home, 260 Reynolds, in Augusta, Ga. Sunday morning, Oct. 16. He was born in Penfield, Ga. November 26, 1885, and would have been 70 years old in a few weeks. He had lived in Augusta 35 years. He was a retired safety officer for the Charleston and Western Carolina Railroad. Mr. Geer was a member of the First Baptist Church, Augusta, and served as church treasurer for many years. Pallbearers were Jack W. Roundtree, J. A. Hart, J. B. Peeples, W. B. Bridges, Marvin J. Ivey, Jr. and C. L. Christain. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Phinizy bible Class to which Mr. Geer belonged. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Fuller Geer; a daughter, Mrs. Rupert Sledge, Arcadia, La.; three sons, William D. Geer, Clinton, Miss.; Rev. Robert S. Geer, Alba; and H. Calvin Geer of Augusta; and three grandchildren, Sharlande Sledge and John William and Deborah Elizabeth Geer. Interment was in the Penfield Cemetery, Penfield, Ga.
