E. GEER DIES IN GREENSBORO from: The Augusta Chronicle, Thursday, January 5, 1937, p. 9A: Word was received in Augusta yesterday of the death of J. E. Geer at Greensboro, Ga., a brother of W. F. Geer of this city. Funeral services will be conducted in Greensboro at the residence at 4 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. Copp. officiating. Interment will follow in the Greensboro Cemetery. Mr. Geer is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary McGibony Geer; two sons, Jack and Tommy Geer; and a daughter, Miss Dana Geer. An only sister, Miss Mary Geer, died last week of pneumonia at Birmingham, Ala. She was interred in Penfield, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Geer will leave this morning to attend the final services. ________ JOHN E. GEER IS BURIED TUESDAY from: The Herald-Journal, Greensboro, Greene Co., GA, prob. Friday, January 8, 1937: John Enoch Geer, 48 years of age, died Monday morning at his residence in Greensboro after an illness of several months. Mr. Geer was born in Penfield on July 31, 1888, the son of James F. Geer and Lula Colclough. Moving to Greensboro from Penfield, Mr. Geer was for a number of years head of the accounting department of the McCommons-Thompson-Boswell Co. About eighteen years of age he assisted in organizing the Geer-Colclough Lumber Co. and was active in the management of this concern until its liquidation. With the planing mill equipment, Mr. Geer became associated with the R. F. Taylor Lumber Co., and for the past several years had been in charge of preparing all of the lumber shipped by this concern. Mr. Geer was quiet and unassuming in his manner, but those who knew him best, loved him most. Soon after moving to Greensboro Mr. Geer was married to Miss Mary McGibony. To this union three surviving children were born: one girl, Dana Geer and two sons, Jack and Thomas Geer. Within the short span of five days death claimed both brother and sister. Miss Mary Geer, an only sister, died in Birmingham, Ala., Thursday from pneumonia. A brother, W. F. Geer, of Augusta survives. The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon from the residence. Rev. C. H. Kopp. officiating. Mr. Geer was a member of the Baptist church. The pall bearers were Mr. James L. Crossley, Mr. R. F. Taylor, Mr. H. T. Campbell, Mr. John S. Callaway, Dr. E. G. Adams and Mr. E. W.
