October 19, 1984: Mrs. Mary McGibony Geer, 93, of Greensboro, Ga., died on Tuesday, October 16, 1984 in Monroe, Ga., after along illness. Mrs. Geer was born in Greene County on October 16, 1891 the daughter of the late Essie Mullins McGibony of Greene Co., GA., and James Thomas McGibony of Henry Co., GA. Mrs. Geer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro, Ga. She was a secretary of WMU for 37 years for the First Baptist Church, Greensboro and active in Sunday School and other depts. of the church. Mrs. Geer had many friends in Greene County who were saddened to learn of her death. She will be missed by her many loved ones and friends. Mrs. Geer is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thomas H. Davison, Garner, NC, two sons, John C. Geer, Monroe, Ga., Brig. Gen. Thomas M. Geer, Burke, Va., two sisters, Mrs. J. H. McCommons, and Mrs. W. C. Dunn, both of Greensboro, Ga., two brothers Dr. John R. McGibony, Chevy Chase [sic], Md., and Maj. Gen. James T. McGibony, Jacksonville, FL, 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18, 1984 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church, Greensboro, Ga., with the Revs. Harold Tice and Terry Duvall officiating. Interment in the Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro, Ga. Gentlemen serving as Active Pallbearers were: R. D. McCommons, L. Y. Keminer, Billy Ashley, Dr. Lee Parker, Gilly Adams, Sr., and Troupe Jones. Gentlemen serving as Honarary Pallbearers were: Quinton Hadden, Arthur Stewart, Ralph Windsor, David Kopp, Calvin Geer, and Paul Glass. McCommons Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
