Mr. O'Neal was in his field, superintending the planting of a watermelon patch. He was sitting on a stool which in late years, he carried with him, while overlooking his farm work. Death came upon suddenly and he fell over, dying without a struggle. The deceased was a successful farmer. He was a brave and patriotic confederate soldier, a member of Company K, 44th Georgia regiment. He was in his seventy- eighth year, and had lived a splendid life, leaving many good deeds behind him. He was charitable and generous always. Besides a wife, he leaves a large family of sons and daughters to mourn his going away. The daughters are Mrs. Sallie Leach, of Newnan; Mrs Johnson B. Dolvin and Mrs. J. H. Jackson, of Siloam; the sons are Messrs. C. B. O'Neal, T. J. O'Neal, A. H. O'Neal, Samuel O'Neal, and J. B. O'Neal. The funeral occurred Thursday morning from the Siloam, Methodist Church, Rev. White and Rev. Pierce officiating. He was a full brother to Mr. A. S. O'Neal and a half brother to Mr. Heard O'Neal. The deceased attended Memorial Day Exercises at Greensboro on last Thursday and was in apparently good health.
