Miss Julia T. Sanders Dies in Winston-Salem
Funeral Will Be Conducted on Thursday Afternoon at Penfield, Ga.—News was 
received in Atlanta last night of the sudden death in Winston-Salem, N.C., of 
Miss Julia T. Sanders, of Penfield, Ga., who was prominently connected in the 
state, and had hosts of friends in this city. Miss Sanders was attending 
school in Winston-Salem at the time of her death. Her relatives had no idea 
her illness was of so serious a character. Last year she was a student at 
Agnes Scott college, and while there made a wide circle of acquaintances in 
Atlanta. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Sanders, of Penfield, 
Ga.; a sister of Mrs. H.R. McClatchey, of Marietta, and of Laeutus Sanders, of 
Commerce. Her grandfather, Billington Sanders, whose name is linked with the 
history of Mercer university, was one of the founders of that institution of 
learning, and was its first president. The front yard of the home of Mr. and 
Mrs. Charles Sanders was a part of the campus of Mercer, when that college was 
located at Penfield. There were few more popular or lovable members of the 
young school girl set. Cheerful always, optimistic, and of a sunny 
disposition, it was easy for her to make friends and hold them. Her school 
record was of the best, and her talents had won her the compliments of her 
teachers. Her body will be brought to Penfield, where the funeral services and 
interment will take place at 3:30 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
