James Dunn of the County and State aforesaid being in the decline of life of Sound & disposing mind & memory & considering the uncertainty of this mortal life make & ordain this my last will & testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. I direct & request my debts to be promptly paid. I give & bequeath all my Estate both real & personal to my wife Elizabeth Dunn for & during her natural life. Upon the death of my wife Elizabeth Dunn I further will & direct my property to be divided as follows. I give & bequeath to Frances Alfriend the wife of Wm L. Alfriend to her & her bodily (heirs) not subject ot pay any debts whatever the following property, to wit, namely Adeline, ______, Jerry, Sucky & an infant child and their increase. I give & bequeath to Eliza Dunn the daughter of my brother Hiram R. Dunn the _______ property to wit, namely Ann, Mandy & her child Elizabeth, John & Sarah & their increase, to her & her bodily heirs not subject to any debts whatever. I further will & direct the balance of my negroes & increase all except one namely Jasper to be equally divid(ed) as follows between the children of my brother – Hiram R. Dunn - namely Hiram G. Dunn, James Dunn & John Thomas Dunn. After the death of my wife Elizabeth Dunn I further will & direct my land & other property unnamed to be sold by my Executors & two thousand dollars to be given to Mary Alfriend the wife of Edward W. Alfriend & her bodily heirs not subject to any debts whatever, all of the property above named should amount to more than two thousand dollars. Finall(y) I direct to be divided equally between the 6 children of my brother Hiram R. Dunn which are named in this will. I hereby constitute & appoint my beloved brother Hiram R. Dunn Executor & my wife Elizabeth Dunn Executrix hereby giving them full power to carry out my will as I have above directed. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal. And I also appoint my Brother (Hiram) R. Dunn trustee for the property that I have given to Frances Alfriend, Mary Alfriend and Eliza Dunn, giving him full power to carry out my will & directions. This the 12th day of June 1848. (In) witness of Jesse J. Moore James (X) Dunn (L.S. William Moore James Moore Georgia Greene County Court of Ordinary June Term 1853 Personally appeared in open court James Moore one of the witnesses to the within last will and Testament of James Dunn Dec’d. and on oath says that he saw him subscribe the same and that he believed him to be of perfect sound mind and disposing memory at the time of his signing the same. And that he in presense of Jesse J. Moore and William Moore the other witnesses and in the presence of the Testator subscribed their names as witnesses thereto.
