First of all I bequeath my soul into the hand of my redeemer Jesus Christ through whose Merrets alone I hope for Eternal salvation & nothing ____________ but a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor & whereas it has pleased God to bless me with Temporal blessings in this life I demise & dispose of it in manner & form following. Item 1st I give and bequeath to my loving wife Polly Towns my negro woman Fanny four head of horses my wagon & ___ nine _____ head of hogs five head of sheep together with my household & kitchen furniture and plantation farming tools and my ____ of land Number One hundred & forty lying in the County of Randolph Item 2d I give and bequeath to my Son Terry Towns my negro Temp & Calla to him & his heirs forever. Item 3d I give & bequeath to my daughter Lucy Towns one negro Girl names Chancy and one negro Girl named Hannah to her and the lawful heirs of her body Item 4th I give & bequeath to my Son Bartlet Towns one negro man named Ambray/Ambroy Item 5 I give & bequeath to my Son Henry Towns one negro man named Asa Item 6th My will & desire is that when my two Sons Bartlett & Henry Towns do arrive at lawful age or are married that then my negro Woman Milly and her increase be equally divided between them in addition to what I have before given in the aforesaid Items. My will & desire further is that all the property that I have given to my children be held together for the education & maintainance of my children until they arrive at lawful age or are married that then they shall receive the legacy given them; and then after the expiration of two years my Executor will Sell all my lands that I have in the County of Greene & the money put to Interest and when ever any of my children do arrive to lawfull age or are married that then my Executor shall give him or her an equal part of all my money debts or Interest Lastly I do name and make my loving wife Polly Towns Ex together with my loving friends Marlin Towns & David Hardwick Ex to this my laast will & Testament __________ of I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 6th day of Sepr 1809 Sealed & acknowledged Bartley Towns [seal] in presence of Richard Smith David Crawford Thomas Crawford Jr ____ Court of Ordy Jany Term 1810.
