Nesbit William Nesbit 1789 1863 Veteran of War of 1812 .................Supervised the building of Military Rd from Ft. Daniel to a shallow ford on the Chattahoochee River. This is now Peachtree Rd. About 1815, meeting at the Wynn (?) house at Hog Mountain, he and others began the creation of Gwinnett County and was appointed the first Sheriff and was elected the 2nd and 4th year. As state legislator, he represented Gwinnett County at Lawrenceville(?) from 1829 to 1837. On this site is located his Plantation of 650 acres. Transcribed from a very worn Plaque at the Cemetery.
