Thursday, December 27, 1906 UNCLE SAMMIE DILLARD HAS BEEN CALLED HOME His Passing Probably Removes the Oldest Citizen of Gwinnett County Uncle Sammie Dillard probably the oldest citizen of Gwinnette county died last Sunday at the home of his son, John Dillard, near Gloster The remains were conveyed to Auburn Monday and interred at Ebenezer, of which church he was a faithful member. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Williams. Uncle Sammie was in his eighty ninth year and could tell many interesting reminiscence of the early settlement of the county. The deceased was the father of ... or six children. Six years ago to the day his wife died and was buried the following day at Ebenezer. He was drawing a state pension for gallant services rendered during the civil war. The entire community regrets the death of this good man.
