Weekly Gwinnett Herald, Wednesday, 30 May 1883, page 3, column 1
Death of Geo. W. Varner.
     With deep regret we learn that Geo W Varner, an old and highly esteemed 
citizen of this county died last Sunday after a short illness.
     He had raised a large family and we understand that there was at his 
burial on Monday thirteen children.
     We tender to the bereaved family our sympathy in their distress.

Additional Comments:
George Washington Verner was born 14 March 1817 in South Carolina, son of John 
W. Verner.  George married Elizabeth Arthur, daughter of Lewis Arthur and 
Nancy (Hartsfield) Arthur.  Elizabeth was born 27 January 1820 in Georgia and 
died 11 February 1887 in Gwinnett Co.  George and Elizabeth Verner are buried 
at Level Creek, South Cemetery in Gwinnett Co., GA.
