This is the gravesite of my grandparents, Howard and Mamie MORGAN.  Howard was 
the son of James Thomas and Sarah "Sallie" A. G. FOUNTAIN.  His grandfather, 
John MORGAN, gave his life during the Civil War and is buried at Hollywood 
Cemetery in Richmond, VA.  His grandmother was Francis Mariah GARNER MORGAN.  
Granddaddy was a blacksmith, worked for the railroad as a mail carrier and a 
Justice of the Peace.  He was also an ordained Baptist Deacon and a member of, 
first, Ivy Creek Baptist, then Walnut Grove Baptist.  Grandmother was the 
daughter of Joseph Frank PRUITT and Roxie Ann HAMMOND.  She was a homemaker and 
very involved in her community and church.  She only wore pants once in her 
life, but only briefly.  She said she put on a pair of granddaddy's old 
overalls one day to work in the garden, but felt so "guilty" that she had to go 
back in the house and change before she got started.  She also did not drive.  
One day, granddaddy was determined that she was going to learn and she was 
determined that she wasn't.  He finally got her in the car, she started it up 
and promptly ran in the ditch!  She got out, and said, as she was walking 
away, "I told you I didn't want to drive and I'm not."

They are both buried at Walnut Grove Baptist Cemetery in Lawrenceville, GA.

Granddaddy died exactly one week after the birth of my brother, Rodney ATKINSON.
(My married name is MORGAN, but there is NO kinship between the two!)
