Thomas to Ray Whitfield} State of Georgia } Deed to Land on Broad River Know all men by these presents that I Martin R. Thomas of the County and State aforesaid for and in consideration of one hundred dollars to be in hand paid at and before the seating and delivery of their presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained sold and conveyed and doth by their presents, grant bargain sell and convey unto Ray Whitfield his heirs and assigns two hundred acres of land more or less situated and lying in the county aforesaid on middle fork of Broad River in three hundred and Seventy first district of said County containing originally five hundred acres and originally granted to Hannah Thomas said grant being dated December the seventeenth in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty one, the line starting from a pine corner, running South 80 west to a Spanish Oak corner thus running S. 60 # 20 chains to the Spanish Oak, thence S 5 E 18 to a black Jack, then S. 25 E 19 to a chestnut, then running the old Ralston line to Spanish Oak, then South to the river, then up the river to the mouth of a gully, on the right hand side of River, then up the gully to the old line, then on a conditional line made by M.R. Thomas and Perry Loftis, then along a conditional line to a black Jack corner, then on a conditional line to the beginning pine corner. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land, unto him the said Ray Whitfield his heirs and assigns, together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit & behoof forever in fee simple, and the said M.R. Thomas for himself his heirs Executors and administrators, the said bargained promises unto the said Ray Whitfield his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claims of all other persons whatever, In witness whereof the said Martin R.
