Personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace within and for the county and state aforesaid, Sarah Pardue aged eighty one years a resident of Habersham County in the State of Georgia, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Lilliston Pardue deceased who was a sergeant in the war of the Revolution in the state of South Carolina for the term of six months and upwards and continued in the actual service for that time and was honorably discharged in said state at the termination of his service. She further declares and states that she was married to the said Lilliston Pardue in the state of South Carolina, Edgefield District on the 5th day of June A.D. 1793 by one Benjamin Harry a Baptist Minister of the Gospel, and that her name before her said marriage was Sarah West, that her said husband died in the state of Georgia on the 7th day of February A.D. 1807 and that she is now a widow. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining Bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act approved March 3, 1855. Sarah (herXmark) Pardue We David S. Oliver and Thomas J. Hughes Jr residents of Habersham County in the state of Georgia upon our oaths declare that the foregoing declaration, was signed and acknowledged in our presence by Sarah Pardue and that we believe from the appearance and statements of the applicant that she is the identical person she represents herself to be and that her family record shows the date of her marriage with Lilliston Pardue and of his death of which the following is a true copy "Marriage of Lilliston Pardue and Sarah West June 5th 1793 A.D." "Death of Lilliston Pardue Feb 7th 1807 A.D." and that the original is genuine and the copy correct. David S. Oliver Thomas J. Hughes Jr The foregoing declaration and affidavit were sworn to and subscibed before us on the day and year above written and I certify that I know the affiants to be credible persons that the claimant is the person she represents herself to be and that I have no interest in the claim William C. King J.P. State of Georgia County of Habersham I certify that William C. King Esq before whom the foregoing declaration and affidavit were made is and was at the date of the same an acting Justice of the Peace within and for the county and state aforesaid duly commissioned and qualified and that his signature above is genuine. On Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the seal of my office this 2nd day of April 1855. Philip Martin clerk of the Superior Court of said county. Additional Comments: Lilliston Perdue was born ca 1748 in Amelia Co., Virginia to John and Sarah Adams Perdue. He received one third of the appraised value of three slaves at his father's death in Warren Co., NC 1769. He married first in Warren Co., NC (Elizabeth Spears?) and moved to South Carolina with two of his brothers - all three served in the Revolution. Lilliston received permission to keep a tavern in Edgefield Co., SC. He had at least three children by his first wife (names unknown). He married second to Sarah West and they had six children. He died at 59 years in Lincoln Co., Georgia. Sarah West Perdue died 1855 in Habersham Co., Georgia.
