The Rev. Bill Trotter and the Rev. Kenneth Pilcher will officiate, with burial in Amy’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarkesville. Mrs. Marcus died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at her son’s residence in Williamston, S.C., following an extended illness. Born in White County on Jan. 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Harve and Sinda Elizabeth Ledford Nations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonzo Lee Marcus; son, Allen Marcus Jr.; brother, Floyd Nations; and sisters, Florabelle Pardue, Flonnie Herrin and Pauline Eller. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Long of Belton, S.C., Brenda Layton of Lincolnton; sons, Albert Marcus of Belton, S.C., Gene Marcus of Royston, Carlton Marcus of Cleveland, Jerry Marcus of Williamston, S.C.; sister, Katie Mae Franklin of Clarkesville; brother, J.C. Nations of Clarkesville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin is in charge of arrangements.
