Black, 92, of Demorest were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Hillside Memorial Chapel. The Rev. George Deadwyler and Carroll Jeffers officiated, with burial in Fairfield Cemetery, Demorest. Mrs. Black died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Habersham Home following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on March 13, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Christopher C. and Surcia Pruitt Hightower. Mrs. Black was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was retired from Habersham Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edvin T. Black; granddaughter, Judith Dituro; and grandson, Barry Black. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Melba and James Barr of Demorest, Lavonda and Bill Wright of Demorest; sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Coma Lee Black of Demorest, Lowell and Imogene Black of Demorest; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Hillside Memorial Chapel, Clarkesville, was in charge of arrangements.
