The Rev. Tim Beasley and the Rev. Wilburn Hill officiated. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Leon Brown officiating at graveside. Mr. Reed died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at a private nursing home. Born in Clarke County on Nov. 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Willie and Bertha Bolton Reed. He was preceded in death by his brother, Davie Reed; sister, Mildred Johnson; and grandson, Ty Reed. Mr. Reed was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was a retired insurance agent and was a member of Centennial Baptist Church, Rutledge. Survivors include his wife, Frances Bray Reed of Demorest; daughter, Sharolyn Reed Griffin of Homer; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Paul Cheplick of LaGrange; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Caren Reed of Social Circle; grandchildren, Beth and Tim Beasley of Demorest, Daren and Becky Reed of Social Circle, Peyton Griffin of Atlanta, Scottie Reed of Social Circle, Jami Cheplick of LaGrange, Sydnie Cheplick of LaGrange; and six great-grandchildren. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
