Green, which occurred last Thursday afternoon, September 21, at the hospital in Lumberton, NC, after a brief illness. Mrs. Green, who was 29 years of age, was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. William Hardy, well known residents of Cornelia. She attended Cornelia schools for 11 years, graduating from high school in 1927, and the University of Georgia in 1931. As a member of the faculty of Clarkesville school, she taught here for several years as second grade teacher. Later she taught at Pembroke, NC and there was married to Mr. Herbert C. Green, December 26, 1937. She had been a member of Cornelia Baptist Church for many years. The remains were brought to her former home at Cornelia and funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. A. J. Johnson, officiating. The high esteem in which this beloved young woman was held in the community where she had spent her girlhood was attested by the many beautiful flowers and by the large assembly of sympathetic friends who attended the services. Among these were a number of friends from Pembroke and Lumberton, NC, who accompanied the funeral party to Cornelia. Interment was in Level Grove cemetery with Ritchie & Co., funeral directors, in charge of arrangements. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: L. R. Turpen, Jack Ellard, Irwin Kimzey, W. R. Reeves, J. S. Lunsford and Hugh A. Inglis. Besides her husband, Mrs. Green is survived by two brothers, Finis Hardy and Broadus Hardy, by four sisters, Mrs. J. C. Warren, Mrs. George White, Mrs. C. M. Dillard and Miss Leslie Hardy, all of Cornelia.
