Harry Lee Downer 

Funeral services for Harry Lee Downer, 67, of Cornelia will
be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Mountain View
Baptist Church. The Rev. James Harvey, the Rev. Racheo Lacey
and Michael Welch will officiate, with burial in the church
cemetery. 

Mr. Downer died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his residence
following an extended illness. 

Born in Lilesville, N.C., on March 3, 1935, he was the son
of the late Joe and Maggie Bailey Downer. He was preceded in
death by a brother, Bruce Downer. 

Mr. Downer was retired from Habersham Hardware Home Center
as the paint store manager with 32 years of service. He was
a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Patsy English Downer of
Cornelia; daughter, Pam Kinney of Cornelia; sons, Thomas
Mitchell Downer and William Douglas Downer, both of
Cornelia, Brian George Downer of Mt. Airy; sisters, Diane
Welch, Carol Freeman, Ruth Paul, all of Wadesboro, N.C.,
Mary Frances Poe of Mt. Gillead, N.C.; brothers, Joe Downer
of Demorest, Herbert Allen Downer of Palm Coast, Fla.; and
five grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4
p.m. and 7-9 p.m., today, June 28. 

Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge
of arrangements.
