The Rev. Clyde Garrison and the Rev. Jacob Armour officiated, with burial in B.C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at her residence following a brief illness. Born in Habersham County on Nov. 17, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James Haden “J.H.” Wilbanks Jr. and Willeree Armour Wilbanks Watkins. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener, an avid reader and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Harold Thomas of Alto; daughter, April Celeste Thomas of Alto; son, Barry Len Thomas of Alto; stepfather, John Lamon Watkins of Cornelia; stepbrothers, Anthony Watkins of Mt. Airy, Marion Watkins of Homer; grandmother, Vadie Thomas Armour of Alto; and grandchildren, Seth Harold Thomas and Kayla Marie Thomas. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of arrangements.
