Widener, 75, of Cornelia will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 14, in the Piedmont College Library. Mr. Widener died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at his residence. Born in Atlanta on Nov. 20, 1927, he was a son of the late Perry Comfort and Martha Jane Covington Widener. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Greer. Mr. Widener was retired from the Smithsonian Institute as chief exhibit specialist in the Natural History Museum. He served as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Angela Crabb Widener of Cornelia; stepchildren, Whitney McDowell and Jordan McDowell, both of Clarkesville; one nephew; a great-niece and a great-nephew.
