Shockley, 86, of Baldwin were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Leatherwood Baptist Church. The Rev. James Morgan and the Rev. James Harvey officiated with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Shockley died Friday, July 5, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Born in Hall County on Dec. 7, 1915, he was a son of the late Thomas Sr. and Jessie Osborne Shockley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cathryn Pritchett Shockley. Mr. Shockley was retired as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and owned and operated Shockley’s Store for 35 years. He was a member of Hollingsworth Lodge No. 355 F&AM, and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Alawayne and Edwin Booth, Sandra and Clifton Ward, all of Baldwin; sister, Lois Christopher of Duluth; brothers, Woodrow Shockley of Homer, Thomas Shockley Jr. of Toccoa; and grandchildren, Doug and Sherry Ward, Christopher Ward, Saresa Booth.
