The Rev. Bill Cox and the Rev. Darvin Slaton officiated with burial in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Tiger. Mr. Tyler died Thursday, Aug. 8, at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Rabun County on March 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Harve Pierce and Martha Smith Tyler. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Tyler; brother, Samuel Raymond Tyler; and sisters, Nancy Beasley and Fannie Mae Watts. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of Demorest Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Betty Watts Tyler of Cornelia; daughters, Sandra Parrington of Westminster, S.C., Lana Tyler of Cornelia; sons, Ken Tyler of Columbia, S.C., Johnny Tyler of Cornelia; brothers, Cecil Tyler of Mountain City, James Tyler of Alto, Robert Tyler of Homer; sisters, Sara Ruth Ridney of New York, Mary Virginia Taylor of Florida, Irene Whitfield of Cornelia, Martha Lillian Watts of Wiley, Lizzie Bell Moore of Tiger, Kathryn Davis of Macon, Mildred Joann Varner of South Carolina, Clara Faye Baker of Tiger; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of arrangements.
