John Lawrence Houston

Funeral services for John Lawrence Houston, 71, of Cornelia were held at 2 
p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral 
Home. The Rev. Jeff Ayers and the Rev. Tracy Davidson officiated, with 
burial in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Houston died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center 
following an extended illness.
Born in Dexter, Kan., on May 7, 1931, Mr. Houston was an iron worker and of 
the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Wright Houston of Cornelia; daughters, 
Becky Jordan, Nancy Houston, Judy Houston, all of Wichita, Kan., Stephanie 
Owens of Washington; son, Scott Houston of Wichita, Kan.; stepchildren, 
Leyta Wortman, Betty Brown, Julia Brown, Leo Brown, Eugene Brown, all of 
Wichita, Kan.; sister, Fay Kurly of Washington; 11 grandchildren; 12 
stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of 
arrangements.
