The Rev. Jerry Mize and the Rev. Brian Stephens officiated, with burial in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarkesville. Mrs. English died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Habersham County Medical Center. Born in Franklin County on Oct. 6, 1910, she was the daughter of the late W.A. and Melvina Love McClure. Living most of her life in Toccoa, she was the owner and operator of English Grocery Store for more than 50 years. Mrs. Englis was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. She also attended Antioch Baptist Church for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Issac English; sons, Ed English, Carol English; and granddaughter, Malinda Raxter. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Howard of Baldwin; grandson, Dale Howard of Carrollton; granddaughters, Lelanda Davis of Toccoa, Phyllis Trotter of Clarkesville; daughter-in-law, Betty English of Toccoa; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Acree-Davis Funeral Home Inc., Toccoa, was in charge of arrangements.
