The Rev. Eddie Tanner officiated. Local funeral services Mr. Gribble will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Cornelia Church of God. The Rev. Eddie Tanner, the Rev. Wilmer Ivester and the Rev. Len Pirkle will officiate with burial in Clarkesville Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Gribble died Friday, July 26, at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on June 23, 1926, he was the son of the late James B. and Winnie Lee Hill Gribble. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lurline Holbrook. Mr. Gribble was a retired manager with Ridge Lumber Company in Lakeland, Fla. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. He attended Cornelia Church of God and was a member of North Side Assembly of God in Lakeland, Fla., where he served as deacon for many years. Survivors include his wife, Alma O’Steen Gribble of Clarkesville; daughters, Winnie Higgins of Comer, Donna Coleman of Charlotte, N.C.; son, James Gribble of Auburndale, Fla.; brother, James M. Gribble of Clarkesville; sisters, Eula Belle Franklin and Lila Alley, both of Clarkesville; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today, July 30, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, is in charge of arrangements.
