Immediate cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage. Born near Mt. Airy, Mr. Perkins was a prosperous farmer of Banks and Habersham counties until his retirement about six years ago, when he moved to Cornelia. He served during the Spanish-American War as a member of Company K of the Third Georgia Infantry. He was a member of the Ed H. Almand Camp # 18. He served Habersham county as its representative to the State Legislature in 1913-1914. He was a Mason and, since boyhood, a member of Harmony Baptist Church near Hollingsworth in Banks County. With the Rev. A. J. John officiating, burial services were held at the Harmony Baptist Church. Burial was in the nearby cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sallie Duckett Perkins; six daughter, Mrs. H. W. Turk and Miss Margie Perkins of Atlanta; Miss Louise Perkins of Clayton; and Misses Rachel, Elzora and Dixie Perkins of Cornelia; seven sons, John S. Perkins of Charlotte, NC, Young V. of Clarkesville; Tom B. of Atlanta, and Robert, Bynum and Swenson Perkins, all of Cornelia; one sister, Mrs. K. L. Braselton of Weatherford, Texas; two grandsons, Sibley Turk of Atlanta and Johnny Perkins of Charlotte, NC; a son in law, Mr. Henry W. Turk of Atlanta and a daughter in law, Mrs. Emily Perkins of Charlotte, NC. The following acted as pallbearers: J. L. Perkins, H. W. Turk, L. Y. Irvin, J. S. Nunnally, Plumer Duckett and A. Duckett.
