Poole Sr., 80 of Alto were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiated. Burial was in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. with the Rev. Clyde Garrison officiating at graveside with military honors provided by the Honor Guard from Ft. McPherson. Mr. Poole died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville. Born in Banks County on Aug. 18, 1922, he was the son of the late John Stovall and Rosa Lee Sellers Poole. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Moss Poole; brother, J.D. Poole; sisters, Lola Mason, Louise Roberts; grandchildren, Shea Marie Poole and Tom Joseph Poole. Mr. Poole was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a retired farmer and a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Jean Cox, Judy Garrish and Janice Tatum, all of Alto; son, Tom Poole Jr. of Alto; brother, Ed Poole of Baldwin; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
