Vance Wade, 86, of Alto, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at Habersham County 
Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1918, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Sherman 
and Ola Gailey Wade. Mr. Wade was a retired painter with several years service 
and attended Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church. He was preceded in death 
by his wife, Ella Rae Cook Wade, a step-son, Thurman Dalton, sister, Elsie 
Holcomb, and three brothers, Cody, Isacc and Artis Wade.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Ruth Kesler, Carnesville; son, Gene Wade, 
Alto; step-sons, Guy Dalton, Gainesville, Charles, Earl and Loyd Dalton, all 
of Colbert; sisters, Sandra Poole, Baldwin, Irene Pratchard, Cornelia, Joyce 
Jordan and Imogene Stancil, Alto; brother, Odell Wade, Alto; grandchild, 
Jeremy Wade, Alto; several step-granchildren; and several step-great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 8, at the Whitfield Funeral 
Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating and the 
Rev. Clyde Garrison officiating at the graveside. Burial was in Mt. Zion 
United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
