Walter Hershel Burkhalter 

Funeral services for Walter Hershel Burkhalter, 69, of
Cleveland were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at
Alexander’s Gateway Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev.
Lyndon Eubanks officiating. 

Mr. Burkhalter died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at a private
hospice care home following an extended illness. 

Born in Fulton County, he spent much of his life in Stone
Mountain prior to moving to White County in 1972. He was
of the Methodist faith and was a member of Clarkston
Masonic Lodge. 

Survivors include his wife, Jacquline Burkhalter of
Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Constance and Cliff
Hood of Helen, Denise and Russell Letson of Rome; mother,
Thelma Lovelace Burkhalter of Winder; brothers, Phillip
Burkhalter of Memphis, Tenn., Richard Burkhalter of Sugar
Hill, Michael Burkhalter of Conyers, Barry Burkhalter of
Atlanta; sister, Linda Barnhart of Winder; and four
grandsons. 

Memorials may be made to Georgia Masonic Children’s
Home, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31208. 

Alexander’s Gateway Chapel Funeral Home, Cleveland, was
in charge of arrangements.
