Quinton Land, 82, of Cornelia were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. The Rev. Terry Rice and the Rev. Jack Hardeman officiated with burial in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Mr. Land died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at a personal care home. Born in Fulton County on July 17, 1920, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Ada Laura Smith Land. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fletcher Land, Jake Land and Frank Land. Mr. Land was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, and prior to retirement was co-owner and manager of Sandy Springs Hardware. He was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and a former member and deacon of Sentell Baptist Church in Atlanta. Survivors include his wife, Irene Sutton Land of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Anita L. and Tommy Parker of Cornelia; son, Thomas Wesley Land of Atlanta; sister, Amanda Brackett of Decatur; grandchildren and spouses, Kelly R. Parker of Cornelia, Andrew J. and Monica Parker of Cornelia; and one great-grandson. Memorials may be made to Level Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 416, Cornelia, GA 30531. Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest was in charge of arrangements.
