Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery Inscriptions Hall County, GA Antioch Cemetery - Antioch United Methodist Church Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia Tombstone Inscriptions recorded by William L. "Bill" Stephenson, Jr. May 12, 14, & 15, 1999 (Woodart@one.net) To get to Antioch Church, travel westwardly out of Gainesville, GA on state road 53 - Dawsonville Highway. Turn right onto Sardis Road (2900 block). At the seemingly dead end, follow Sardis road to the right. You will pass Sardis Baptist Church and Cemetery on the right and Sardis public schools on the left. At the four-way stop sign, turn right onto Antioch Church Road (2900 block). Enter the church parking lot (about 100 yards) on the right. The church is red brick facing eastwardly. The cemetery is behind the church and parking lot. We believe the original church was positioned on what is now the parking lot. The original church is believed to have been a white wood-frame structure. From Dawsonville Highway to the Church is 1.6 miles. Antioch Cemetery is positioned east to west along a ridge top with markers starting at the edge of the parking lot. In the center of the cemetery there are few markers and at one time this area was filled with stone markers. This center portion is thought to be the oldest part of the cemetery. Near the west end there are more markers. It is thought that the cemetery is filled or nearly so. There are no know burial sites available. The church office did not know of a listing of burials nor did they know of a plat of the cemetery. The recorder of this information located three generations, and possibly four generations, of relatives buried at the site. Information in [brackets] added by the recorder with some information known from other records.
