March 1, 1944: Ordered back to take northern route to UK. March 6, 1944: Left Gander to St. Mawgens March8, 1944: To Bassingbourn...Flew to British and American bases testing runways for weight carrying capacity and letting the Germans take a picture at high altitude...the object to make the Germans think the B29's were to be used against them. The airplane was shown to many visitors such as Churchill, Eiserhower, Tony Spatts, Chief Air Marshall Tedder, etc. April 1, 1944: Left St. Mawgens for Marrikesh at 00:56 and flew 2 hours east before turning south to Marrikesh. April 2, 1944: Left Marrikesh to Cairo April 5, 1944: Cairo to Karachi April 6, 1944: Karachi to Kharagphur and met there by K. B. Wolfe Additional Comments: My father: M/Sgt. Luther Thompson was on this mission. His Military service spans from Jan. 16, 1923 to Nov. 23, 1953.
