XLVI -- No. 260 Page 3, Column 2 "UNCLE" ODELL DIES; HAD TOMBSTONE READY, 15 YEARS Gainesville, Ga., March 1 --- (Special.) "Uncle" Andrew J. Odell, one of the oldest residents of Hall county, and a beloved citizen and confederate veteran, died at his home on West avenue yesterday from the result of an accident sustained about six weeks ago, having been knocked down by a runaway horse. Mr. Odell was the father of thirteen children, nine of whom survive him, his wife having preceded him to the grave by a number of years. His six sons-in-law, Jim Roberts, M. C. Mabrey, John Vickers, Joe Finger, R. W. Barrett and J. I. Adams, acted as pallbearers, the funeral occurring from St. Paul's church, and the remains were interred in Alta Vista cemetery this afternoon. Mr Odell had his monument prepared over fifteen years ago as he wanted it to stand, and has had it sitting out in the barn. He had a blank left for the purpose of having the date of his death added. Additional Comments: Andrew Jackson ODELL, born 8 November 1825, married 29 August 1844 to Catharine Ann PRATER, daughter of Joseph and Mary (BOYD) PRATER. Catharine died 20 September 1900.
