Served with the Second Georgia in War with Spain. Gainesville, Ga., March 28- Lieutenant W. R. Chamblee died at the home of his mother at Pendergrass yesterday after an illness of several months with consumption. He was well known in this section and was universally liked. When the late war with Spain was declared he was one of the first to volunteer his services for his country. He was at that time captain of the Piedmont Rifles of this city, and although his whole company did not volunteer, he carried a number of his men with him and they were assigned to Captain Beusse's company of Athens. Lieutenant Chamblee remained in service until the Second Georgia regiment was mustered out and because of his bad health has since been at the home of his mother in Pendergrass. The funeral services were held this afternoon at the First Methodist church, conducted by Revs. J. M. White and A. A. Tilly. The latter was formerly chaplaiin of the Second Georgia Regiment.
