DEATH OF HON. A. B. C. DORSEY.
After Long Illness He Dies at Gainesville.

Gainesville, Ga., August 7-
Our whole community was saddened this morning when was announced the death of 
A. B. C. Dorsey, which occurred at his home at 7:05 o'clock a.m.  Mr. Dorsey 
had been very ill for some time and his death was not unexpected but 
nevertheless it was very sad.  Mr. Dorsey was born sixty-five years ago in 
White county, near Mossy Creek, and moved to Gainesville in 1874 from 
Clarksville, of which city he was mayor for several years.  After his removal 
to Gainesville Mr. Dorsey served several terms as city clerk and was for many 
years coroner of Hall county, being elected to that position six times without 
opposition.  Mr. Dorsey was very influential here  both in politics and in 
business, and was one of the best known of northeast Georgia's most popular 
citizens.  He was a Christian and a member of the Methodist church.  He is 
survived by his wife and nine children-William F. Dorsey, a prominent 
businessman of Athens; Mrs. W. S. Hockaby, of St. Louis, Mo.; John C. and Abner 
R. Dorsey, well known young men of Gainesville, and Miss Leone, Sam, Andrew, 
Jr., and Louise.  The funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 3 
o'clock at the First Methodist church by the pastor, Dr. Quillian, assisted by 
Rev. A. A. Tilley.  The interment took place at Alta Vista cemetery and the 
services will be in charge of the Masons, of which order Mr. Dorsey was an 
honored member.
