Gainesville, Ga., September 7- The funeral of Dr. Robert E. Green, one of Gainesville's pioneer citizens, occurred here Thursday afternoon. Dr. Green was reared and educated in Atlanta, with the exception of the four years he attended the University of Georgia. He was a graduate of Southern Medical college, of Atlanta, in 1838, and practiced medicine there until 1870, when he removed to Gainesville. He practiced medicine here but a short time, when he went into business. Dr. Green built the first street car line in Gainesville, which was a horse-car line from the Southern depot to the heart of the city, and operated this line himself for a number of years.
