Martin Loses Life in Service Mrs. Cora B. Martain, of Lula, received word last Saturday morning of the death of her son, Private Guy H. Martin. Private Martin was reported missing in action on Feb. 2nd., but it has now been officially determined that he lost his life as a result of enemy action in the North Atlantic on Feb. 3rd. Private martin graduated from the Lula High School in 1940 and later attended Jackson Lake school near Covington. After entered C.C.C. he was stationed in a camp near Gainesville. On August 19, 1942, he entered the Army and received his basic training Ft. McClellan, Ala., later leaving for overseas. Private Martin is survived by his mother,a twin sister, Mrs. Mildred Millican; two brothers, J.V. of Atlanta, and Pfc. Paul Martin, of Long View, Texas. Additional Comments: Mrs. Cora Bryant Martin, daughter of Ben Bryant, was our next door neighbor the entire time that I was growing up in Lula, Ga. She was the nicest neighbor that anyone could ask for. I loved her dearly.
