MORTUARY.

Gainesville, Ga., August 8-
Professor George G. Merck, a musician of note, died here this morning at 6 
o'clock.  Mr. Merck was born in Murray county, but had been a resident of 
Gainesville for some time.  Before coming here he had lived in Boston many 
years, where he gained a reputation as a music teacher and several of his 
pupils now hold positions in the Boston conservancy.
