MORTUARY.

Gainesville, Ga., December 10-
Mrs. Mattie W. Merritt, one of Gainesville's best known and most highly 
esteemed Christian women, died here this afternoon, aged fifty-four years.  She 
is survived by two children, James W. and Miss Mary B. Merritt; three sisters, 
Mrs. Fannie Banks, Mrs. John Banks and Mrs. S. H. Zellner, all of Forsyth; four 
brothers, E. R. and J. H. White, of Forsyth; J. T. White, of Atlanta, and D. P. 
White, of Gainesville.  The funeral will take place at First Baptist church in 
Gainesville at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon.
