Gainesville, Ga., Decembr 19- The entire city was shocked this morning to learn of the death of Miss Mary Pearce, daughter of Dr. H. J. Pearce, of Brenau College. Columbus, Ga., December 20- The funeral of Miss Mary Matthews Pearce, who died yesterday at the residence of her grandfather, John S. Matthews, after an illness of several weeks, took place this morning from the residence of Mr. Matthews. The death of this bright young girl, who was only in her sixteenth year, was peculiarly sad. She was the daughter of Dr. Haywood J. Pearce, of Gainesville, and had just entered, in September, Brenau college, of which he is president. She was taken ill in Gainesville and was brought here in the hope that her condition would improve. Her father, her four grandparents and three brothers were at the bedside when the sad end came.
