R. Carmichael, accompanied by his brother and sister, Mr. Harris and Miss Trellis Carmichael. Miss Pearl Carmichael, Mr. Homer Brooks and Col. Stephens, left Wednesday morning for Gainesville, where he was married yesterday to Miss Anne Lilly, an excellent and popular young lady of that city. Mr. Carmichael has just completed a lovely new residence opposite the Brown house, where they will reside. Both are popular young people, with rosy promises of life before them, and numerous friends will join in congratulations and wishes for them that it may be long, with the full realization of all its brightest hopes. For want of time, we are unable to give an extended notice of the ceremony in this issue.” The Henry County Weekly, October 23, 1896: “The Carmichael-Lilly Nuptials McDonough, Oct. 20- Thursday last Mr. Lemuel R. Carmichael of McDonough was married to Miss Anne Adele Lilly of Gainesville. The marriage occured at the home of the bride's parents in Gainesville, the ceremony being performed by Rev. J. F. Pharr, the Presbyterian minister of McDonough. Mrs. Carmichael is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Lilly and is universally admired in Gainseville. Mr. Carmichael is a prominent young business man of McDonough, whose energy and enterprise are rapidly winning success. After the ceremony, an elegant luncheon was served, and at 2:30 o'clock the wedding party left for McDonough the future home of Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael, where they were entertained at an elaborate tea at the home of Mr. Carmichael's parents. The bride and groom were accompanied home by Misses Agnes and Mary Carmichael of Jackson, Miss Trellis Carmichael of McDonough, Mr. George Knott of Atlanta, and Messrs. H. B. Carmichael, L. H. Brooks and E. A. Stephens of McDonough.- Cor.
