Gilbert of the County of Hancock and State of Georgia of the one part, and Solomon Barefield of the county of Hancock and State of Georgia of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said John G. Gilbert for and in consideration of the sum of Two Thousand Two hundred Dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and doth by these presents grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Solomon Barefield to him his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the County & State aforesaid on the waters of Shoulderbone, containing three hundred Eighty six acres, be the same more or less, butting and bounding as follows. Beginning at a Hickory Lacies corner on the Creek, thence running S15W 55 chs. to a Hickory Thence S75E 52 chs. to a Post A. William's Corner, Thence N32E 45 C. to a Red Oak, thence N12E 38 Chs. to a Mulberry, from thence to the beginning down the meanderings of the said Creek, being Pine, Hickory and Oak Land known as the Thomas Land. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land, unto him the said Solomon Barefield to him his heirs and assigns, together with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereof, to the same in any manner belonging, to him his own proper use, benefit and behoof forever, as a good, indefeasible estate in fee simple. And the said John G. Gilbert for himself his heirs, executors and administrators, the said bargained premises, unto the said Solomon Barefield to him his heirs and assigns, will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves, and against the claim of all other persons whatever. In witness whereof the said John G. Gilbert hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written. J. G. Gilbert (L. S.) Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of John W. Brown Thomas Lundy J. P. Georgia Hancock Martha P. Gilbert wife of the within named John G. Gilbert did this day appear before me and being privately and separate and apart from her said Husband examined by me did declare that she freely voluntarily and without any compulsion dread or fear of any person whatever renounced released and forever Relinquished unto the said Solomon Barefield his heirs and assigns all her interest and estate and also all her right and claim of dower of in and to all and singular the premises mentioned in the within Deed.
