This file was contributed by: Judith Tyson Raymond HRay581257@aol.com ==================================================================== HANCOCK DEEDS Page 101—102 11 January 1805 John Harbert to John William Devereux This Indenture made the eleventh day of January, one thousand eight hundred and five and in the twenty ninth hear of American Independence, between John Harbert of the State of Georgia and County of Hancock of the one part and John William Devereux of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Harbert for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said John William Devereux at and before the Sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Hath granted, bargained, sold, ??released??, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth bargain, grant, sell, release convey and confirm, unto the said John Will Devereux his heirs and assigns, one half of a Lot of land situate, lying and being in the State and County aforesaid, near the Oconee river in the Town of Montpelier, Known by number two hundred and eight in the plan of ^the same Town. The whole of the said Lot containing half an acre. Bounded North on Allen Greene & Company's Lot, East on St Simon's Street, South on Union Street and West on Water Street (?non?? called) To have and to hold the one half of the said Lot Together with one half of the premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining. And the said John Harbert for himself, his heirs, Executors and Administrators unto the said John William Devereux his heirs and assigns against all ???pusory??? whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend in fee simple.
