Between Jonathan Melton of the County of Hancock and State aforesaid of the one part, and William Barfield of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jonathan Melton, for and in consideration of the Sum of three hundred and fifty nine dollars, paid to him in hand by the Said William Barfield the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath sold and by these presents doth sell allien and confirm unto the said William Barfield all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County and State aforesaid near Ogeche River, bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at a W. Oak Station on the long branch, running due North, one hundred and twenty seven pole to a pine X from thence North, one hundred and Sixteen P. to a R. Oak, X from thence a little S. of East eighty pole, to a white oak X on the long branch, from thence down the branch to the Beginning Containing by estimation Seventy fore Acres more or less which is 62 Acres of it part of a 200 Acres formily granted to Larran [?] Bankson.. And the other 12 being part of 50 Acres, formily granted to Aaron Parker, To Have and to hold, the said Bargained land & premises unto William Barfield, and his heirs. And the said Jonathan Melton, for himself and his heirs, against all and every person or persons whatsoever the said land and premises, with [all] and singular the houses, fences, orchards, benefits and improvements whatsoever, to the same belonging, or in any wise appertaining, with the rents issues profits thereof, unto the said William Barfield and his heirs, will warrant and forever defend in fee simple by these presents. In Witness whereof, he hath hereunto set his hand and Seal, the date above written.
