It appearing that the Proof having been made to this Court that Hugh McCallam of the 109th district G. M. has arrived to the age forty five –Ordered that he be discharged from doing Military duty. Ordered That Col. Thomas Hudson, Majr. John G. Lumsden, Capt. John Binion, Capt. James W. Fannin, Capt Ebenezer Cooper & Capt Eli H. Baxter or a majority of them be and they are hereby appointed a committee to wait on Col. Birdsong and request him to convene the Officers of his Regiment at Sparta at such a day and time as he may deem convenient within two months from this day. ( 108 ) for the purpose of confirming with the Officers of this Regt. On the subject of an alteration of the line dividing said Regiment and that said committee in conjunction with Col. Being duly returned and called as a delinquent for failing to appear at a Brigade Muster on the 14 June last held in Sparta was fined in the sum annexed to their names William Clowder fined $1.00 The following persons privates in Capt. Reid--------$1.00 Cilas Plunket----------------1.00 Joseph Plunket--------------1.00 Luther Dorchey Excused Ordered that the Sum of two Dollars be paid to Richmond Colbert for that amount paid James Marchman acting as Pro Vost Marshall Pro. tem at a Battalion Court of Enquiry. ( 119 ) Ordered that the sum of fifty cents be paid Captian Ebenezer Cooper for money expended in repair of a drum of his Company. Ordered that the Sum of two dollars and fifty cents be paid to B. Gildersleeve pd. For printing Military notices. Ordered that Isaac Culver be discharged from futher Military duty in this Regiment. Ordered that the district line between districts no. 110 and 107 of the Georgia Militia commence at Pimple Hill opposite Lampson Wright’s old house and run to the house of James Hester’s dec’d from thence to Malcomb Johnson’s Store including the Road and Hester’s house in district no. 110. Ordered that James H. Jones former Clerk to this Court of Enquiry make a showing of all money and turn over the Same to his Successor in Office and that the Clerk turn over the Same to the Commandant of this Regiment that a showing may be made to our next Court. Ordered that the Sum of two dollars each be remitted to Dixon Hall and William G. Macon for fines imposed on them on Friday 1 November 1822. ( page 120 ) Ordered that the Clerk and Pro Vost Marshall have the Same pay that was allowed the Clerk and pro Vost Marshall last year. On motion--- Resolved that the Senator and Representatives of the county of Hancock be requested to Court themselves to procure the passage of a Law by the General Assembly designating the Military dress of the Officers of the Several Regiments of Infantry of this State. The Court being of opinion that the present law on this subject is not sufficiently explicit and as it is at present explained by the Brigade Inspector. The Court deem a compliance with its requests much more expressive than was intended by the Legislature at the time of its passage. An Election took place for a Clerk and Pro Vost Marshall to the Regiment when William Green Macon was Elected to the former and Henry Rhodes to the latter appointment when the Court adjourned. Thos. Hudson Col 14th Regt. G. M. ( page 121 ) At a regimental Court of Enquiry began and held in & for the 14th Regiment of Georgia Militia at Mrs. Halls in Sparta November 21st 1825. Present the following officers to wit Col. Thos. Hudson----President Majr. James W. Fannin Andrew Danielly Capt. 102 District Charles W. Collier “ 106 “ Moore Mapp “ 109 “ James Sharpe “ 110 “ John A. Lightfoot Lieut do “ Joel Kelsey Lieut. 108 “ Henry Rhodes Pro Vost Marshall The usual oath was administered to Col. Hudson by Majr. Fannin & by Col. Hudson to all the members of the Court when an Election was held for Clerk and Cyprian Wilcox was declared duly elected. The Court being organized proceeded to business. Major James W. Fannin was called to the chair for the trial of Col. Thos. Hudson on who acknowledged himself as a defaulter at a Regimental Muster held in Sparta on the 26th Sept. last .Col. Hudson was heard in his excuse which was considered by the Court as good & sufficient. Col. Hudson returned to the chair. Capt. Charles W. Collier being duly returned and called as a defaulter at a Regimental Muster held in Sparta on the 26th Sept. last—appeared and gave a good satisfactory excuse. Wherefore the Court said no fine.
