Obidiah Alford of the 107 District Ga, Militia was fined in the sum of ten dollars for non attendance at this Court & for neglecting to return a list of defaulters in his Company the 15 of May last at a Regimental Muster held in Sparta ----------$10.00 Released Jacob Alford, 1st Lieuten. And of the 107 District Georgia Militia was fined in the sum of five dollars for non attendance at this court on the 11th instant--------$5.00 Resolved. That it shall be the special duty of the Clerk of this Regiment for the time being to make at every Regimental Court of Enquiry thereof a true listed of all monies collected by him for fines imposed at the previous Court. The names of the person from whom collected , and the amount of fines which were stayed by the commanding officer on funds impossible to collect & that the same be entered from time to time upon the minutes of the Court in a way that the true state of the funds of the Regiment may at any time be ascertained. Resolved That the present Pay Master of this Regiment call upon the former Paymaster: to wit: Tom Hudson and Wm.G. Springer and ascertain if any monies belonging to the Regiment are now in their hands and if so to what as the amount. Fannin to the officers present. The Adjutant’s return of delinquents was then taken up. John G. Gilbert Dragoons was returned as a defaulter on the 18th August 1824 & fined the sum of $2.00. Thos Hudson Sargt. of Capt. Alford’s Dist. Returned as a defaulter at Drill Parade on the 18th August & fined the sum of $5.00. (remitted) Isaac Hart of Capt. Sharp’s District released from the fine of two dollars assessed on the 11th day of June last. Edmund J. Jordan of same Company was also released from a fine of one dollar assessed at the said Court. Capt. Obidiah Alford fined on the 11th June at this court the sum of ten dollars was released from the same. Henry Long of Capt. Sharp’s Company a private for non attendance at a Regimental Muster & fined the sum of pd $1.00. Daniel N. Sutton Sharp’s Dist. Do pd J. B. $1.00. ( page 129 ) Alfred Hamilton Capt. Culver be exempt from Military duty during life on account of defective eyes. Also Miles H. Carrington for having a broken arm. That John J. Berry be exempt from the same from reexamination made to the Court by N. Childers. Resolved That the affidavit of C. W. Collier is not Satisfactory to the Court and that the fine assessed against him at the last Court be collected. Ordered That Jacob Alford 1st Lieut. Alford’s Dist. Be released from a fine of five dollars for non attendance at the Court on the 11th June last and that the fine of five dollars for non attendance at Regt. Muster in May last be collected. Ordered that Capt.C. W. Collier be fined twenty dollars for non attendance at this & neglecting to make a return of a list of defaulters in his Company. Remitted ( page 130 ) On motion Ordered that the district line between the 102nd & 103 district be altered so as to start from Harris’s Shop along the Milledgeville road until it reaches Fort Creek and down that to its mouth. Also that the line between the 110th & 107 districts be so changed as to include Isaac Dickerson in the 110th and the house occupied by George Runnells be in the 107 Dist. Resolved that the account rendered by Col Jas. W. Fannin’s for money advanced at August Muster of $2.50 be allowed and paid; And the account of E. Cooper’s for $1.00 advanced at the same time be also paid. Also one dollar to Capt. Adams for the like purpose be allowed and paid. On Motion the Court adjourned This 15th October 1824 J. W. Colquitt could have been the Terry Colquitt mention in a Wilkes County Ga. deed dated –21 Oct. 1801, book VV page 4 and also on the census for Franklin County Tenn. 1820. ) The following are a list of defaulters in Capt Z. Rowe’s Company with the fines annexed to their names. George Ingram fined $2.00 Ordered That the fine of Five dollars assessed against Thomas Hudson at our last Court be remitted. Ordered That the fine of Twenty dollars assessed against Capt. C. W. Collier at the last Court be remitted. Ordered That Richard Holt fined the sum of Three dollars at the last Court be remitted. Ordered That the fine of three dollars assessed against Samuel D. Reid at the last Court be remitted. Ordered That the fine of Three dollars assessed against Leonard Peake at the last Court of Enquiry be remitted. The Court being organized proceeded to business. The Adjutant return of delinquents were taken up first . Richard Lewis Surgeon returned as a defaulter at drill & parade on the 6th day of April last. W’ Lewis came before the Court & made his excuse they thought it a sufficient one and order that he be not fined. Brittain Sims 2st Sargt. returned as a defaulter at Drill . This deem his excuse a sufficient one & order that he be not fined. B. G. G. A Lucas 2 Sargt. for not attending a Drill of officers in Sparta on the 6th April & fined the sum of three dollars $3.00. Benjamin Colquitt 3 Sargt. returned as a defaulter at Drill & parade & the Court fined him the sum of three dollars $3.00. (note this Benjamin Colquitt not listed in the index ) Mills S. Brada came before this & rendered an excuse for not attending the Court held on the 10 December 1824 and the fine of three dollars then assessed be and is now remitted. ( page 135 ) Gilford Harris Sargt. of Capt. Green’s Company returned for not having discharged his duty in returning Abram Motley for his non attendance at a Regimental Muster on the 7th April & the Court fined him the sum of -- -$2.00. John W. Brown 4 Sargt. of Capt. Sharp’s Company stands charged as above & fined the sum -----$2.00. Henry McLenden returned as a defaulter & the Court fined him the sum of $1.00 & Paid by Capt. Adams to the Colonel Danielly & by Col. to the rest of the officers composing the Court. The Court then proceeded to the election of A provost Marshall when Henry Rhodes was unanimously elected. The Court then proceeded to the election of a Clerk when Cyprian Wilcox was elected . Major Tully Vinson appeared and took his seat & when the oath was administered by the presiding officer. Lieut. Japtha Grace of the 108th district also appeared & took his seat, to whom the oath was administered by the presiding officer. Lieut. Joel Kelsey appeared from the 108th district was duly sworn & took his seat. C.W. Motion, Resolved that James Sharp is not entitled to Command the 107th district, his Commission having been opened for the 110th ----It was then determined by a majority of the Court that Capt. A communication was rec’d from Sam’l Hart & which was referred to the next Court of Enquiry . Also one from James Sharp which was wherein returned.
