Repository: Wooford College, Spartanburg, SC. MRS. M.J. CUMMING, wife of E. Cumming, Esq. and daughter of Ebenezer and M.C. Vinson was born in Hancock Co., Ga., Feb 2d, 1832 and died of consumption, at the residence of her mother, hear Milledgeville, Ga., Apr 17th, 1864. Raised by pious parents, she was brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and her life showed that the labor thus bestowed was not in vain. She embraced religion and joined the M.E. Church when about twelve years old and continued a consistent member. Mar- ried in 1855............................... is located,...she goes to her rest in the grave, while mourning friends with bleeding hearts go about the streets. A widowed mother recives the heavy blow, a large...of devoted friends attached to her by her amiable and kind man- ners share in the general grief, while a devoted husband and loving children are especially smitten and bereaved. Some time before her death it was evident that the fatal disease would claim her for its victim. Although her illness was protracted and severe, she for it with becoming christian patience and pious submission. Never a word of complaint was heard to...her lips. Not a fear disturbed her heavenly calm, as she neared the shores of the last river. Not a cloud of doubt intervened between her and her Saviour's smiling face and her happy home in heaven. B.F.
