The former was well-known in this county as one of its oldest citizens. The latter was an invalid when he came to the county a few years since. He died at the residence of his brother-in-law Mr. Nichols on the place purchased of Colonel T.J. Smith. General Hitchcock held a commission in the United States army during the war, and at one time he was commissioner for the exchange of prisoners.
