MAGGIE LEONARD’S FUNERAL AT POWELTON Sparta, Ga., Feb. 5 – Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Leonard, 75, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Powellton cemetery in Hancock county. Mrs. Leonard died Sunday at the home of her daughter in Augusta. She was a native of Hancock county and spent the greater portion of her life here before going to Augusta to live. Her husband preceded her to the grave many years ago. Mrs. Leonard is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. B. Colclough, of Augusta, and Mrs. A. W. Ray of Atlanta; five brothers, L. A. and Thomas Brake, of Crawfordville, H. P. and Irvin Brake of Culverton and L. M. Brake, of Powellton. Mrs. Leonard had been ill for five months. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Colclough, 1920 Walton Way, shortly after noon Sunday. The funeral was conducted by Rev. A. G. Shankle, pastor of Woodlawn Methodist church, of Augusta. Additional Comments: Margaret “Maggie” E. Brake was born April 28, 1854, Hancock Co., GA, died February 4, 1929, Augusta, GA, daughter of William Brake and Caroline M. Waller. She married Simeon C. Leonard about 1888.
